Amachi Central Kentucky – 3rd Annual Disc Golf Fundraiser

Amachi Central Kentucky is holding their 3rd Annual Disc Golf Fundraiser on May 31 at Shillito Park.

https://www.facebook.com/events/128086107382272/

This year’s event format will be a scramble with teams of four in two divisions, Advanced and Recreational. Each team is asked to pre-register and pay a $180 entry fee as a donation to Amachi Central Kentucky. The entry fee is ideally raised through sponsorship of the individual players or of the team.

The Amachi program is an awesome mentoring program for children who have one or both parent incarcerated in state of federal prisons or who are otherwise affected by incarceration. Please plan to support our local community organizations by showing support for this great program.

Trimming and Cutting at Jacobson Park

Please do not cut brush or trees, dig ditches or other such work at Jacobson Park without checking with the BDGA board members. There has been some clearing on holes 2 and 6 and ditches that have been dug that should not have occurred.

If you have time to do work at Jacobson, there is much that can be done to clean up stick and debris, including trash, around the course, particularly in the areas of holes 7, 8, 9, 13 and 17.

We are working on a list of items that need to be done and prioritizing the list so that we can get the more important items completed and the course in the best condition possible in time for the Lexington Open. If you have items that you would like to add to the list, you can comment in the BDGA forums or on Facebook.

Jacobson Park Workday

Saturday November 16, 8:30 am

One final push with a good work crew could have us ready to set basket sleeves!   Most holes are largely cleared with only final trimming and cleanup left to do.  Primary tools and equipment needed are lopping shears and rakes to cleanup some of the fairways and green areas.

If we can get the course cleaned up and the first set of placements located, we plan to ask P&R for assistance with digging the holes so that in the next few weeks we can get placements set.

Come on out to help out on the 16th!
